The human behind the pixels: Who’s Milind?
ABOUT
Milind Sharma is a product designer based in Ahmedabad, India, with 4+ years of experience designing SaaS, fintech, and marketplace products at IndiaNIC Infotech Limited. He has worked on 20+ products across operational systems, dashboards, multi-role platforms, and complex workflows.
He started in mechanical engineering, which sounds unrelated to design until you realize engineering is really about understanding systems. Taking things apart. Finding the logic underneath them. That instinct stayed with him.
Before opening Figma, he tries to understand why products behave the way they do, where users struggle, and what breaks when systems scale.
He believes the hardest things to design are often the simplest looking: a phone dialer, a toggle switch, a booking flow that quietly works.
His approach is simple:
function first, aesthetics second.
He stays close during development because shipped products matter more than mockups. Outside work, he reads, plays games, and writes occasionally about design, systems, and AI.
My operational mindset.
Craft-obsessed
I have a high bar for craft, and know how to get the job done, raising the quality bar for design, and sweating all the details.
Big-picture systems thinker at scale.
I see the big picture without losing the details, taking companies from 0-1 with design as a priority, not an afterthought.
Deeply product minded
I have a product mindset and excel at understanding user problems, caring about crafting experiences that solve problems.
An expert driver, not a passenger
Comfortable working independently, navigating ambiguity, taking initiative, and working iteratively in a fast-paced environment.
Quality over quantity
Rather than try to solve every problem at once, I prefer to focus and solve a few problems exceptionally well for customers.
Growth mindset
Willingness to own problems. Comfort with ambiguity. Passion for building product. A desire to make things better.
Creative freedom and seeing what works
By encouraging bold ideas and fearless exploration, I uncover new possibilities and actively seek what works best.
ICP and collaborator
Ability to work independently and make bold design decisions while also being able to collaborate with others.
Founder's mindset
I have a founder's mindset and operate with high autonomy and velocity with customers to scope and iterate on new products.
My process
The process adapts to the product, users, and business context, balancing usability, scalability, and implementation across the design lifecycle.
Discovery
Understanding users, business goals, and constraints before designing solutions
Problem Framing
Identifying friction points and aligning UX direction with product goals
User Flows
Structuring journeys, architecture, and interaction patterns for clarity and usability
Interface Design
Exploring intuitive, scalable, and accessible interface systems through iterative design
Validation
Refining experiences through collaboration, usability feedback, testing, and iteration
Handoff & Optimization
Ensuring smooth implementation, design consistency, and post-launch experiences
Experience
May 2023 – Mar 2026
UI/UX Designer
- Breadth of Delivery: Delivered end-to-end UX (user flows, wireframes, prototypes, interface specs) for 20+ digital products across SaaS, fintech, and marketplace platforms spanning web, Android, and iOS.
- Marketplace at Scale – Hubsups: Owned the full experience as sole designer across buyer, vendor, and admin panels for an FF&E/OS&E procurement marketplace serving 25K+ vendors in the US, running usability testing (Hotjar, UserTesting) and redesigning the vendor product-listing flow from 8 steps to a 4-step drawer to cut completion time and form abandonment.
- AI-Driven Product UX – Wind Caddie: Led on-course UX for an AI-powered golf app built around a real-time weather algorithm, setting one-glance interaction as the core constraint so players read critical wind and distance data mid-round without breaking focus.
- Credential-Grade Assessment UX – Upskill by Cambridge: Designed assessment flows for a CEFR-aligned English testing platform built with the University of Cambridge, structuring four skill journeys (reading, writing, listening, speaking) across web and mobile with proctoring and results delivered in minutes.
- Design System & Handoff: Built and maintained token-based design systems and atomic component libraries in Figma, designing within React and shadcn structures for clean, low-ambiguity design-to-development handoff and WCAG 2.1 accessibility.
Jul 2022 – Apr 2023
Executive UI/UX Designer
- Government-Scale Fintech: Designed UX for national MSME lending platforms (JanSamarth, PSB Loans in 59 minutes) processing high-volume loan applications across 250+ lenders, serving public and private sector banks.
- Form Complexity Reduction: Restructured dense, multi-step loan-application forms using atomic design principles, supporting borrower journeys where in-principle approval dropped from 20-25 days to under 59 minutes at the platform level.
- Transaction Status UX: Converted dense tabular financial data into intuitive visual hierarchies, improving status clarity and lowering cognitive load for first-time MSME users.
- ML-Driven Credit UX – FIT Rank: Partnered with external stakeholders, including TransUnion CIBIL, on FIT Rank, an ML-based MSME credit-ranking product, designing borrower-facing interfaces that translated a 1-10 risk score and underlying financial signals into clear, understandable feedback.
Jan 2022 – Jul 2022
Design Intern
- Borrower-Flow Prototyping: Designed and prototyped fintech mobile app screens for multi-step borrower journeys, focusing on step-by-step flows built to reduce drop-off at each stage.
- Early Design-System Contribution: Contributed reusable UI components and patterns to the team's evolving design system, building component-thinking habits under senior designer mentorship.
What I’m looking for
- •I want to work on products built with long-term thinking.
- •Places where design is involved early, not added later.
- •Teams that care about process, systems, clarity, and craft. Not just shipping screens quickly.
- •I want to keep improving at product thinking, communication, and development collaboration.
- •And I want to work on the unglamorous parts of products with the same level of care as the hero moments.
- •Open to remote work or relocation: Dubai, Germany, UK, Australia.
